Donington Park was the first permanent park circuit in England. The first motorcycle race took place in 1931 on the lanes of the Donington Hall estate. In 1933 the track was widened, made permanent and became a venue for Grand Prix Car racing.
It was unused during World War II and used as a vehicle depot by the MoD.
After 3 years of problems between 2007 and 2009 when the circuit was abortively being redeveloped to host Formula 1, Wheatcroft & Son Ltd expended enormous effort to bring this marvelous track back from what seemed like almost certain permanent closure.
Now we can be sure of the future of Donington Park and can continue to run race events here for our members.
