I suppose I have my Dad to blame for my interest in bikes, we always had something with two wheels kicking around the garden. Our family days out were to Brands Hatch, almost as soon as I was walking!
My competitive biking started when I was 14 on Yamaha TY175 trials bike. I went from club trials right up through to National level & carried on to Adult trials as an “Expert” which were always good fun. I have been known to drag out my old Fantic 240 twinshock now & again through the winter months, just to keep my hand in...
I joined BEMSEE in 2002 as “Rookie 400” rider at the tender age of 34 & loved it! I got my first win that year & have managed to win trophies in every year I’ve raced. I carried on with the 400’s at club & MRO level until 2006 when I decided to have a change & ended up riding an old CBR600 in Thunderbike UK Championship & this year (2008) won the Championship.
To give something back to the club I have been the 400 rider’s rep & last year was asked to become an ordinary member which has then led me to be invited onto the board of directors, which I am very proud of. I have also been involved with the training days the club puts on as a coach to the “Rookie” riders.
During the week I work as a service manager for Tollhouse Toyota, having worked previously as a motor vehicle technician, so spanners, nuts & bolts aren’t too strange to me.
