Yamaha Past Masters Racing Club (YPMRC) was formed in 2004 and I was part of that group of guys that wanted to ensure the class stayed alive - I somehow ended up as the main class co-ordinator and then labelled as the class rep in 2005 but seeing how the class has grown and its presence in the paddock gives me enormous pleasure.
Been riding bikes on and off since I was 16 – Bikes included TY50, DT125, RD250, VFR400R, GPZ550, 750, 900, FZR1000, GSXR750, CBR600 and I sold my last road bike a ZXR600J1 in August 2005 and apart from a couple of TZR/TDR road bikes I just don’t go there.
I started racing in 1995 on a shared KR1-s with a mate soon followed by an RGV250 but never really got into it until I got my TZR in 1998 – I 2001 I won the New Era Championship without winning a race – well it was good enough for Troy Corser and Andrew Pitt back then - Came back to Bemsee in 2003 to put myself up against the premier TZR riders as it was seen and have been racing with Bemsee ever since and of course in the resurrected YPM class – The closest I came to winning it was in 2004 when me and John Puk took it to the last race of the year and he won it by 6 points.
From Liverpool originally,(eh eh eh ) I moved to Reading in 1983 and my current job is a Technical Sales Support Consultant for Oracle – My other interests apart from the racing of course is err other racing , Everton Football Club, Music festivals and skiing (although the racing has stopped that in recent years) – Fortunately being in YPM’s I like Beer – Every Rookie should ensure Beer is added to their checklist.
Feel free to mail, call or drop in at any race meet (assuming I’m racing) for a chat/tea/beer |
